Gov. Whitmer’s Executive Order Regarding Mask’s

Today is July 13, 2020, and is the first day that Governor Whitmer’s executive order regarding mask-wearing becomes effective. According to the executive order, a person who does not wear a mask in public due to the COVID-19 pandemic is subject to a civil infraction and a $500.00 fine.

I have been made aware in recent days of incidents involving people yelling at or even berating fellow citizens for not wearing a mask in public. My advice is to not get pulled into this type of situation. In the current political climate, these misunderstandings can deteriorate into getting ugly quick. Please don’t berate or confront others who choose not to wear masks. Many citizens have reported violators to the police. Though my personal feeling is that this is an extreme step, I certainly would advise calling the police rather than confronting others not wearing a mask.
We ask anyone reading this post to be polite with others and maintain proper perspective dealing with COVID-19 and the legal ramifications considering this novel disease.
